Dorit Cypis has extensive training and experience mediating community relations and the litigated case. Her mediation training includes procedural and substantive issues, legal process and social psychology, represented by mentorship with Judge Alex Williams III of the Los Angeles Superior Court, and with Kenneth Cloke, respected mediator in transformational process.
Since 1979, Cypis has developed and facilitated many social programs, networking among artists, arts institutions, educational institutions, civic centers, the justice system, homeless youth, social service centers, foundations and private business. Clients include, Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel of the Los Angeles Superior Courts, California Academy of Mediation Professionals, California Lawyers for the Arts, Center for Conflict Resolution, Western Justice Center, Centinela Youth Services, Southern California Mediators Association, Finishing Solutions, HeArt Project, True Body Project, Kim Baer Design Associates, San Francisco Art Institute, Foundation for Art Resources, Kulture Klub Collaborative, several California Superior Courts and private clients.
Cypis has been presented by museums and galleries throughout the US, Canada, Holland, Belgium, France, Japan and Israel and has taught at universities and colleges nationally and internationally on issues of aesthetics, identity and representation. She has received many awards including the National Endowment for the Arts, Japan Foundation, Bush, McKnight, Jerome, Ordway and Durfee Foundations, City of Los Angeles/Cultural Arts and Fellows of Contemporary Art.
Dorit Cypis is a member of Association for Conflict Resolution, a founding member of Mediators Beyond Borders and is Chair of Mediation and the Arts Committee, Southern California Mediation Association.
