THE WINTER OFFICE: Non-Perfect Dwelling

The Winter Office, an artistic and professional working group of artists, curators, architects, designers, and social scientists with ties to Copenhagen, Denmark, presents new works that engage the challenges facing Southern California – including rising housing inequality, economic displacement, house-lessness, and environmental disaster. Conceived of as a collection of thought provoking vignettes, Non-Perfect Dwelling brings together wildly different time scales and references, including comic book anti-hero Bizarro, ancient ammonite fossils, futuristic holograms, and an operational podcast studio, to create an environment where urgent approaches to dwelling and cohabitation can be imagined and planned.
Closing Reception September 15
The Winter Office invites you and your guests to join them on Sunday, September 15th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a final viewing of Non-Perfect Dwelling. During this closing reception, The Winter Office will debut a limited edition lithograph of the exhibition's anchor artwork Re-wildering holographic weeds, printed by Francesco X. Siquerios at El Nopal Press in Los Angeles. Inquires about the lithograph can be directed to any member of The Winter Office attending the September 15 closing, or by emailing info@thewinteroffice.net.

Conversation/Podcast Series: The Social Territories of A Warming World
Please join us for a series of public conversations on non-ideal theories of art, collaborative design, and spatial justice in the 21st century city. In the center of this exhibition is a working Podcast studio that functions as a public speaking and listening environment where new, urgent models for dwelling and housing can be imagined in conversation. These public conversations will be recorded and produced as a podcast series entitled The Social Territories of a Warming World. Conversations will be moderated by The Winter Office in collaboration with the Armory and 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, where a second version of this Podcast studio will be installed in August.
